Resources

If you're just getting started or deepening your connection with the natural world, the elementals, herbalism, meditation, mindfulness, the 5-phase theory of Traditional Chinese medicine, Daoist stone medicine, and so many more, below are some books and other resources that I would recommend to get started. And if there's something specific you're looking for or an area you're curious about, reach out to me - I'd love to share any recommendations I may have!

My first suggestion is to start with the source - if there's an herb, tree, or stone that grabs your attention, introduce yourself, sit with them, see what feelings come over you, what thoughts come to mind, what stories start being told. Try drawing your new friend, singing them a song from the heart, humming a bit, saying hello every time you pass, writing down any dreams you may be having about them. The stronger your relationship is with your new friend, the deeper the lessons will be. (Please, please, please don't touch or eat anything unless you're 100% sure you know ki is safe.)

Rosemary Gladstar offered some great advice for choosing reference books when I first started learning about herbs: make sure the author of the book works with the plants directly or works as an herbalist. The teachings that come directly from the plants are profound.
